Did you know that the Library of Congress has primary sources of many major figures in dance? Horton, Dunham, Graham, Ailey, Hawkins, many Graham dancers, Daniel Nagrin, the New Dance Group, Marge and Gower Champion, Bob Fosse ...

Libby Smigel, dance curator, and Cait Miller, music reference librarian, will host a research orientation titled "Finding Music and Dance at the Library of Congress." This session will introduce you to the Library's books, periodicals, e-resources (both periodicals as well as online databases like the Tap Dance database), and the dance special collections.

The session takes place in the Jefferson Building (the historic building on 1st Street SE facing the Capitol Building grounds). Remember you'll need to go through security (as you do for all buildings near the Congressional offices), so travel light!

You do not need a Reader Registration card to come to the session, but if you intend to use the Main Reading Room or the Performing Arts Reading Room before or after the session, get your Reader card: in the Jefferson Building Room LJ-139 or across the street in the Madison Building Room LM-140. Reader Registration opens at 8:30 am Monday through Saturday.

The Performing Arts Reading Room is on this same floor, but on the other side of the building.
