If you knew Jim Penrod or want to be inspired by the history of UC Irvine and his role as a kind, generous and talented Dance Educator please join us this weekend online for the great Dance legacy Project
Description: The UCI Dance Legacy Project was originated in 2015 by late Professor Emeritus James Penrod with the goal of documenting the early years of the UCI Dance Department, starting with its inception under the legendary Eugene Loring in 1965. Over twenty-five recorded interviews of faculty, staff and alumni were collected, along with selected archival photographs, programs and video footage shared by participants and the UCI Library Special Collections and Archives. The finished product is a documentary film that will be valuable to those who aim to understand the foundations of the department, its vision and impact on generations of dancers. Over the past 55 years, UCI Dance has been one of the leading historical models for an American university dance department through its academic excellence and training in higher education.
Thank you for helping us to get the word out.
