Dr. Sue Stinson
Lifetime Achievement
Dr. Sue Stinson is Professor of Dance at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, where she has been deeply involved in preparing K-12 dance educators since 1979. She served as Department Head 1993-2002 and developed UNCG’s distance MA in Dance Education. In her last year before her retirement, she is serving as Interim Dean of the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at UNCG.

and edited conference proceedings. Her greatest contribution to the field, however, has been through publications and scholarly presentations at the national and international levels. The 90+ publications listed in her c.v. include her book Dance for Young Children: Finding the Magic in Movement, chapters in a number of books on dance and arts education, and articles in many conference proceedings as well as journals such as Dance Research Journal; Design for Arts in Education; Educational Theory; Impulse: The International Journal of Dance Science, Medicine, and Education; International Journal of Education and the Arts; Journal of Curriculum and Supervision; Journal of Curriculum Theorizing; Journal of Dance Education; Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; and Research in Dance Education. She has taught and presented her work throughout the USA and in a number of countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. Her almost 100 conference presentations have included several keynote addresses for NDEO and Dance and the Child: International.
