Pueblo Grande is an active archeological dig of a former village of the Hohokam people, some of the earliest settlers of the Phoenix area! Today, the popular Phoenix attraction is a live dig with sections of the town specially preserved to allow tour groups. The guided tour of the village is the signature exhibition. Pueblo Grande is a Phoenix "Point of Pride."

Explore the rich history, culture and art of the native peoples of Southwestern America at The Heard Museum. Unlike a tradition history museum, the Heard combines both historical exhibits and contemporary exhibits, particular art exhibits featuring the work of living Native American artists, both local and national. The annual Indian Fair and Market is a local tradition of more than half a century hosted at the Heard Museum.

Ride along the 20 mile lakefront bicycle path to see the city from another perspective. Chicagoland Bicycle Federation is a great source of information on biking in the city.
 

Colossal Cave (152 miles)

True to its name, Colossal Cave is one of the largest cave systems in the southwestern United States. Expect a fascinating day of history, geology and storytelling as you travel along a half-mile guided path through the cave on this 45-60 minute excursion. Be sure to bring a camera to capture all the impressive rock formations and snap a few lasting memories to show your friends and family. The cave tour is a part of the larger Colossal Cave Mountain Park, which also includes two museums, a horseback riding trail, picnic facilities and more.

  

Montezuma Castle National Monument (84 miles)
Marvel at one of the best-preserved cliff-dwellings in the United States. This 5-story "apartment" carved into the side of the Verde Valley cliff wall was created by the Pre-Columbian Sinagua people, northern cousins of Arizona's famous Hohokams. Today, the structure is a preserved national monument. Visitors may walk a one-third mile loop past the structure and through a beautiful sycamore grove. Daily guided programs are also available.

 

Grand Canyon National Park (214 miles)

Hotel Transportation

 

Scooters/Carts: 

Individual scooters that have one seat are available. The hotel orders them through a company as they are requested. They need to be ordered ahead of time and a delivery date scheduled. They are picked up at the beginning of the conference and dropped off at the end of conference at the Belldesk.  A driver’s license is not required. Anyone who rents a scooter would be placed in a room that has elevator access. The scooters can be taken into the room with you, and  they can go into the meeting rooms.

 

Minivans:

The hotel also utilizes minivans on property to shuttle guests around which their bellmen drive. Notify the hotel to call ahead of time for pick-up.
