Benefits of Earning the RDE

For the K-12 Dance Educator:

The RDE provides evidence that the dance educator has earned one of the highest levels of achievement possible in the dance education profession. This designation is equivalent to the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards’ (NBPTS) certification in K-12 education (not available in dance).

The RDE may help dance educators in the K-12 sector earn an endorsement in dance.

For the Dance Studio Owner / Teacher or Dance Teaching Artist:

The RDE provides evidence that the dance educator has significant teaching experience via their portfolio and teaching video, a strong understanding of the Professional Teaching Standards for Dance Arts, and implements these standards in their daily teaching practice.

The RDE may help dance educators earn the respect they deserve within their local community and distinguish themselves and their studio from other dance teachers in the community.

For the Professor in a Dance Education Department at a University or College:

The RDE provides evidence that the dance educator has contributed to the field of dance education beyond the classroom or studio in such areas as advocacy, research, writing, or providing professional development to peers.

The RDE may help professors make the case for tenure and promotion review.
