This Special Topic Conference provides a forum to experience and expand the intersections of Somatic Movement and Dance Education. How are dance and somatic educators carving the future of our fields?

This groundbreaking partnership, between two pioneering internationally recognized organizations, will refine and deepen our common roots and expanding frontiers. The time together will include somatic movement sessions, panel discussions, current research presentations, and curriculum design workshops. Special attention will be given to the discovery of new somatic approaches and entry points for dance educators.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS 
The proposal submission period is closed. Accepted presenters were notified January 29, 2019. If you submitted a proposal and did not receive a notification as to its status, please email conference@ndeo.org.


All presentations are 60 minutes in length. Only one abstract submission per person as primary author. You may be secondary author on up to two other presentations. The abstract must address the conference theme and support the missions of NDEO and ISMETA (below). Accepted presenters must register and pay for conference and be a member of either NDEO or ISMETA (and active through conference dates). Presenters must be available for the full conference; the conference committee cannot honor schedule requests.

The International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy Association (ISMETA) is a collaborative of individuals and organizations dedicated to evolving the field of Somatic Movement Education and Therapy. We ensure that training programs uphold high standards of education and practice, and maintain a professional registry of qualified practitioners. We are committed to building the professional community of Somatic Movement Educators and Therapists worldwide and advocating for the profession in legal and governmental arenas. 

Presenter Deadlines:
  • November 15, 2018 - Deadline for proposal submissions and proposal fee payment
  • January 29, 2019 - Accepted presenters notified
  • February 28, 2019 - Receipt deadline for any updates to session and presenter information; NDEO/ISMETA membership deadline
  • April 1, 2019 - Presenter registration (and payment) deadline
