Why should you support NDEO through our online auction this year? It's simple: We're here when the field needs us most, making a difference in the lives of dance teachers and their students nationwide. We offer professional development scholarships that help dance educators advance their careers and impact their students, as well as free resources for teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic - and your help makes it all possible!

From the onset of the Covid-19 crisis in the United States, NDEO has been there for dance educators, helping them find innovative ways to bring dance to their students during shelter-in-place orders, quarantine, social distancing, and hybrid-learning formats. Our Covid-19 webinar series featured over 25 webinars on teaching dance online, which are available free of charge to members and non-members. Our ongoing series of virtual Special Interest Group meetings allow NDEO members to connect with other teachers working in similar environments or with similar populations to help them share ideas, develop new practices, and strategize for the future. In June 2020, NDEO published Teaching Dance in Fall 2020, an extensive document available to the entire field that summarizes the questions and potential practices raised by NDEO members and panelists during two of our online events.

Our efforts have created real change in the field of dance education, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ensuring that access to dance education continues throughout the pandemic has been of primary importance to NDEO.  We know that a quality dance education can be transformative, especially in trying times. Research suggests that dance can be critical to students’ physical, social, emotional, and psychological health. Through dance, students learn skills that benefit them during stressful or trying times. According to research, students who study dance are: self-motivated, disciplined and focused in their everyday lives; expressive in their communication of emotions, thoughts and feelings; creative and imaginative; and able to critically analyze themselves and others.

In order to continue these crucial efforts to advocate for dance education for all and support the educators who are making a transformative impact for their students during trying times, we need your help.
