The Oregon Dance Education Organization presents its first conference: Building Bridges, Connecting the Field, in collaboration with the Portland Community College Visual and Performing Arts Division. The one-day conference will include presentations, discussion, and networking opportunities for dance educators and students from across the state of Oregon.


Among the growing list of presenters, the Oregon Dance Education Organization is thrilled to announce the Keynote presenter will be Anne Green Gilbert, leader and pioneer in dance education. Full presenter lineup will be announced soon.  


About the Keynote:

Anne Green Gilbert, MAT, is the Founding Director of the Creative Dance Center (CDC), Kaleidoscope Dance Company, and the Summer Dance Institute for Teachers in Seattle, Washington. Anne is a master teacher, choreographer, and author. She has conducted hundreds of workshops for children and adults across the USA and abroad as well as teaching daily classes for all ages at CDC for over thirty years. She is the author of five dance textbooks, two instructional DVDs, and numerous articles. Her awards include the 2005 NDA Scholar/Artist Award, the 2011 NDEO Lifetime Achievement Award, the Lawrence Tenney Stevens American Dance Award in 2014 for her work with boys and men in dance, and the American Dance Festival Balasaraswati/Joy Ann Dewey Beinecke Endowed Chair for Distinguished Teaching in 2016.



About Oregon Dance Education Organization:

Oregon Dance Education Organization (ODEO) is a recently established state affiliate of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), which promotes quality dance education for all. As a state affiliate, ODEO serves as a vital voice and as a convening body for dance educators, and the dance community who live, learn, and/or work throughout the state of Oregon. ODEO advocates for equity, inclusion, access, and diversity as key to an excellent dance education for all. Its goals include promoting dance research and the sharing of effective teaching, curriculum, and assessment methods, encouraging dance education that supports the whole person, and promoting knowledge and appreciation for dance as an art and a critical field of study. Membership for Oregon residents includes dual membership to NDEO and ODEO.
