Join Anne Green Gilbert and Dionne Kamara (2-week Foundational Course), Terry Goetz and Anna Mansbridge (1-week Refresher Course) and guest faculty as they share the philosophy of brain-compatible teaching and the power of the BrainDance. Through movement and discussion, participants experience sample lessons based on Ms. Gilbert's patently successful five-part conceptual lesson plan and the brain-compatible principles that underpin it. A wide variety of afternoon workshops will extend participants’ knowledge and experience.
Now in its twenty-fourth year, SDIT is designed for educators, dance teachers, arts specialists, and therapists who wish to understand the vital link between movement and cognition. Gain confidence in how to combine the mastery of movement with the artistry of expression. Learn how to weave creative, student-centered explorations into technique classes. Explore cutting edge dance pedagogy and best practices in the ever-evolving laboratory of SDIT. Participants leave renewed and energized!
Fees & Credit Options:
Refresher Course fee: $525 Early Bird Discount with registration by May 21, 2018; $595 if paid after May 21, 2018
Continuing Education credits and clock hours available. Credit fee: $165 for three hours of Credit paid to Seattle Pacific University. Clock Hours also available: $60.00 for 30 clock hours (subject to change).
Foundational Course fee: $825 Early Bird Discount with registration by May 21, 2018; $895 if paid after May 21, 2018.
Continuing Education credits and clock hours available. Credit fee: $330 for six hours of Credit paid to Seattle Pacific University. Clock Hours also available: $120.00 for 60 clock hours (subject to change).
Content includes Brain-Based and Conceptual Dance Teaching Methods, BrainDance and BrainDance Variations, Developmental Movement and Reflexes, Integrating Academics, Core Support and Alignment, Creative Dance, Modern Dance, Ballet, Early and HIstorical Dance, Choreography, Learning Styles, Creative Folk Dance, West African Dance, Accompaniment, Special Needs, and Class Management. Content may vary between the Foundational Course and the Refresher Course and is subject to change.
If you have not attended the two-week course but need to take the one-week course because of time constraints, please send or email Terry Goetz (
terry@creativedance.org) a brief resume or description of your education and teaching experience. Include reasons for not being able to attend the two-week course. Your application will be considered.
The number of participants is limited. Please register early to ensure a place in the Summer Dance Institute for Teachers.
