Who We Are:
The mission of the Dance Science and Somatic Educators (DSSE) is to allow educators to share teaching strategies and educational resources and to allow educators who are integrating dance with science and somatics to meet others who are doing similar work. DSSE was established in 2001, originally as “Dance Kinesiology Teachers,” by a group of educators across several universities in the United States, many of whom had worked directly with Sally Fitt, a dance science educator and author of the well-used text, “Dance Kinesiology.” Since 2001, the initial core group has grown extensively and biannual conferences have been organized over the last several years in order to share teaching insights and resources. The organizing committee includes: Jane Baas, Anne Burnidge, Sonia Deville, Pamela Geber Handman, Gabrielle Mc Neillie, Tom Welsh, Margaret Wilson, and Tricia Zweier.
